Stephen is a hands-on designer, involved in nearly every facet of MAYA’s capabilities. From user interfaces in explosion-proof environments to mobile app development, he is a versatile designer with a passion for making the right thing, the right way.
Internally, Stephen is focused on understanding and facilitating the cultural and environmental needs of successful creative teams. He is a mentor to new MAYAns and is deeply involved in efforts to share best practices among practitioners and on-board new employees. His IR&D work has resulted in tools for design thinking and collaboration including TeamBoards and InstaKivas, which are used extensively throughout MAYA’s and clients’ offices.
Stephen has managed and designed for a diverse array of clients such as Bayer, D&B, Emerson, General Dynamics, Gerber, Hunter Fan, Ingersoll Rand, Philips, Pepsi, Thermo Fisher Scientific, University of Pittsburgh, and Whirlpool. He is also an instructor for LUMA Institute’s human-centered design workshops, and leads MAYA’s innovation sessions domestically and abroad. Stephen’s background and experience make him particularly well-suited to projects that require mechanical engineering and product development expertise.
Stephen is named on patents both from his time at MAYA and as a result of a soft products company he owned prior to joining MAYA’s team.
