Mickey McManus participated in the Rotman School’s Design Thinking Experts Speaker Series. The topic of his session was “How Design Thinking Can Drive Innovation.” His talk was open to the public and attended by the Toronto business community, in addition to Rotman’s MBA students and faculty.
Mickey McManus spoke to Princeton students (freshmen through grad students) in a campus-wide course called “Ventures to Address Global Challenges.”
Mickey McManus gave a roundtable presentation to leaders of industry, including those from major Canadian banks and other financial institutions. He challenged assumptions, emphasizing the importance of designing for a satisfying user experience. The Task Force was appointed by the Minister of Finance of Canada to make recommendations on the future of the Canadian payments system in light of technological and other changes.
Mickey McManus joined a worldwide celebration for designers when he presented at Pecha Kucha Night Pittsburgh at The Grey Box Theatre. Pecha Kucha Night happens each year in hundreds of cities, where young designers network and presenters share their stories, collections, products, and/or work—in 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
Mickey McManus was a presenter at the Cusp Conference held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Theater in Chicago, September 22-23. The conference provides a broad framework for discussion about a wide range of ideas and topics related to “the design of everything.” Mickey talked about biomimicry and its role in taming the complexity of the trillion node world.
